This is my first time purchasing granite, where do I start?
Congratulations on your decision to install granite into your home! Granite is a great choice to increase the aesthetic and value of your home. There are three stages of purchasing granite: 1. Quoting and signing of contract, 2. Templating and Fabrication, 3. Installation and Stone Maintenance.
1. Quoting and Signing the Contract:
The first stage requires the most time. During this stage, it is important to shop around and find a stone that falls within your budget. Granitech offers multiple price groups and many color choices. In order to price out your job, we need a “layout sketch” or a rough drawing of the width and depth of your countertops. Once agreeing to price terms and job specifications, Granitech will draw up a formal contract for signatures and your service appointments will be scheduled at your convenience.
2. Template and Fabrication:
As we move into stage 2, your granite selection will be purchased and delivered to our shop. Our first appointment with you will be the Template. During this 30-45 minute visit to your home or job site, we will make physical templates of your counters, as well as gather sink and faucet information needed to fabricate. Once your stone arrives, you have the option to come down to our shop and see your templates on the full slab. This gives you an understanding of where we will be cutting the stone for your countertops. We recommend this appointment for stones with a lot of movement and color variation.
3. Installation and Stone Maintenance:
The final stage occurs about 2 weeks after the time of Template. We will return to your home with our install team for a 2-3 hour installation appointment. We require you schedule to have your plumber disconnect the plumbing before we arrive. We will secure your undermount sink to the countertop, however, we are not licensed plumbers and cannot do plumbing work for you.

  • We ask that you wait 24 hours after the stone installation before your plumber reconnects any plumbing to ensure the silicone is fully cured.
  • We will also seal your countertops during your installation if you have elected to purchase our 15-year Warranty Kit, which also comes with a free daily cleaner. Find out more information about caring for your natural stone countertops on our Stone Care page.

Why do different stones have different pricing?
There are 3 basic factors that determine how granite is priced by the stone suppliers and fabricators; supply and demand, variety of color, and fabrication. Just like any other product sold, it’s all about supply and demand. The rarer a style of granite is and the more “desirable” it’s deemed to be, the higher the price is set by the distributor. Stones that are plentiful, such as Uba Tuba and Tan Brown, will often be priced lower. Since granite is a natural stone product, there are great variances in the color, veining, and pattern of the stone. These variances can be found from one slab to another, and most definitely from shipment to shipment. No two stones are alike, and that’s one of the reasons that granite is such a popular natural stone for surfacing. Factors like veins, fractures, spots, clearness, and other physical attributes can also play a role with price. Keep in mind that the level of personalization and fabrication complexity will also have an impact on price too. This includes thickness, edge treatments, backsplashes, sealing, finishing, and more. Installation costs also vary widely, as they depend on the type, experience, and quality of the installer and the complexity of the installation required, including transportation and handling.

I’m on a budget, can you accommodate?
Of course! We are happy to help you find the right stone for your home and your budget. We offer many price levels to suite your needs. You are always welcome to visit our stone suppliers to view colors we may not have available at our shop – providing you with the most options available for your budget.

Do you offer sinks and faucets?
We do! Granitech offers brand-name sinks, faucets, drains, grids and other accessories.

Do you carry remnants for small projects?
Granitech offers many remnants of different sizes and colors available for purchase. We recommend you stop by our shop and one of our sales team will show you the available remnants.
Please note: our remnant inventory is constantly changing. Granitech will hold a remnant under your name for 2 weeks without a deposit. Once a deposit is placed on the remnant, your remnant will be tagged as a permanent hold until the time of your job. After the initial 2 week hold, our sales team will make their best effort to contact you. If Granitech does not hear from you within a reasonable amount of time, any remnants held without a deposit will be untagged and available to other customers. We thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Do I need a plumber?
Yes! Our team is not certified to do plumbing work of any kind. We ask that you arrange to have your plumber disconnect any plumbing prior to your installation appointment. Please wait wait 24 hours after the stone installation before your plumber reconnects any plumbing to ensure the silicone is fully cured. Granitech will clip the sink to the countertop itself as part of our installation process.

Do you seal my granite?
Granitech applies a complimentary sealer to your stone project at installation. You may choose to apply a sealer that will need to be reapplied every 6-12 months. We offer a 15-year Warranty Kit that includes a premium sealer applied by our certified installers. If you decide to purchase the kit, Granitech will apply the sealer at your Installation appointment. The impregnating sealer provides permanent stain protection, keeps surfaces looking new for longer, and makes your stone easier to maintain. The Kit also comes with a free daily cleaner and microfiber – specifically made for natural stone. Please call us for more information.
